Everyone receives marketing e-blasts just about daily. As someone who designs those e-blasts, I make it my mission to have a little more substance than most. On top of planning photo concepts for each message, I try to include motion, fun type, and secondary imagery to keep the viewer engaged (and hopefully make a purchase!)
I love a still life, I love a memory, and I love a junk drawer. As a way to journal and remember, I've always scribbled things down to reflect a moment in time. The duck sculpture with the pipe is in memory of my Pop and the items in his desk with some Don Williams lyrics. The concert tickets, stamps, and stickers capture the Summer of 2022. Nothing feels better than reflecting and capturing nostalgia.
One thing that was taught to me about the importance of graphic design was to imagine walking into a grocery store and all of the products were in blank boxes of various sizes. You wouldn't know what was what! I'm definitely guilty of shopping based off a product's package so the best I can do to pay back good design is to offer more fun packaging to the world.
We all know a logo is more often than not the face of a brand or an event. It is on all stationery, every ad and product, and is the overall visual mark. I've designed logos for small businesses, nonprofits, and community events. I love nothing more than bringing people's ideas to life and having their dreams become reality.
On top of photoshopping and illustrating I really enjoy editorial design. While there is an art to editorial work, the structure of planning layouts is a very welcomed change of pace.
In the last couple of years I have helped design and build out a few websites. For the Loveless Cafe website, I did the full redesign while Horton Group did the build-out in WordPress. Since launch I have been maintaining and creating product pages for our seasonal meal packs and event tickets. For the Loveless Events and Nashville Kitchen and Cannery websites, I did the full redesigns and build-outs through ShowIt. I even designed and built the website you are currently viewing. :-)
A big part of a my current position is organizing, presenting, and creating photo concepts for promotions, events, and more. Sometimes I'm even the one snapping the photo. I very much enjoy working alongside a photographer to help my visions come to life.
I love to learn new skills, and I pick up hobbies left and right. Bottom line, I just love to make things, whether that's digitally or with my hands. Here's a collection of a few different projects I have worked on, including merch of my dog Ernie. I mean, who doesn't love a Croc Charm of their dog or turning a food truck into a Ginger Bread House?
